Top 2% in the State for Academic Excellence

Like Sherman itself, the school district is an illustration of high-quality resources and staff complemented by a small-town, family-friendly atmosphere in every campus.

Not long after Sherman High School made the Washington Post and U.S. News lists as one of the best high schools in America, the entire Sherman school district is ranked among the top school districts in the state. The Texas Education Agency recently published a list of 24 school districts out of more than 1,200 statewide that achieved the prestigious Postsecondary Readiness distinction for academic excellence. Sherman ISD made the list of 24 districts, which ranks the district among the top 2 percent in the state of Texas.

Sherman ISD’s mission is to ensure that each student is equipped to excel in our changing environment, utilizing the 21st Century Learning framework to emphasize academic excellence, character, leadership, and service. SISD’s recognition as one of the best district’s in Texas is a testimony to the commitment of the staff, students, parents, and community as a whole.

In a recent press release, Commissioner of Education Michael Williams noted, “Earning any type of distinction under the state accountability system is commendable and should be a source of pride in that community. Achieving the postsecondary readiness distinction reflects extraordinary work taking place within a district or charter while affirming a strong commitment to all their students.”
